What is an actuary? When posed this question the average person will draw a blank. It is not the most common profession in the world and actually only about 19,000 people can officially call themselves actuaries.

Is that roughly the number of all of the credentialed (associate or fellow) actuaries in the SOA and the CAS?

How to split that 100,000 worldwide between exam-takers and credentialed is an interesting exercise. It's in the 40,000-ish neighborhood globally.
