So ball-in-hand means you're relying on your opponent to commit a foul. Real pros don't need any help from an opponent.

or you're totally overthinking the training exercise that obviously will improve table management. one of the two.

In an actual match, yes, but ball in hand is pretty much how every practice drill starts, and if you actually watch some pro tournaments it's not just a bunch of guys trying to run the table every single rack. There are lots of defensive shots, and most of those defensive shots aren't just played to get their opponent to fram the balls around the table and hoping they don't get lucky, they're played to try and get ball in hand.

Started playing level 5 last night and realized that I can't shoot for shit without shoes on. Crocs don't help much with that issue. They don't necessarily make it worse, they just make it differently bad.

Jump drills!

Running through a set of drills with jump cue to gauge where I'm at currently. Basically just a skills test with a difficulty ladder. 10 shots at each 'level' and using the percentage results to determine pseudo-mastery. It's based off of something in one of Tor's videos, but I haven't really searched for any jump skill rating system so it's semi off-the-cuff (loosely based on the level system I'm currently using for pattern and table clearing skills).

Level - % - drill
1 - 70% - controlled jump over a ball (cue ball stays on table, no target)
2 - 70% - jump over ball into a pocket (large target)
3 - 60% - jump over ball and make "duck" in pocket without fouling (medium target)
4 - 20% - jump over ball and make straight in average length shot (small target roughly 12-18" away from pocket)
5 - 10% - jump over ball and make cut into pocket (precise target, again roughly 12-18" from pocket)

Will probably expand on this later if it seems like a useful tracker, probably subdividing some of the levels into corner vs side pockets, back cuts vs regular, etc.

Level 1 should have been 100%, and would have been if I had taken any practice shots (shot 13 total for level 1, failed first 3 made last 10). I think it might be more appropriate to start each level cold though, since if it comes up in a tournament or league play I won't have a chance for a warm up shot or two. Might make more sense to institute cold starts after I can get up to 30% or 40% on level 5 working through all at once like tonight though.

On level 6, flip flopping between wins and losses. Dropped back to 5 and got back to 6, so that seems to be my current speed. If I could make it to 7 I take a stab at this:
