Default Struggling with an exam and coming back later

Was wondering if anyone has some thoughts on an exam that youíve struggled to pass (multiple fails), and it feels like nothing you do works. Has anyone successfully taken a break from it, studied for and passed a different exam and then came back later and passed eventually?

I feel like Iím in this situation now with exam MAS-I, and with it being so new, the exam seriously feels like Iím playing the lottery with the way they have been testing it and the passrates have been low as a result. At this point Iím wondering if itíd be worth trying another exam (Exam 6 in my case), and coming back later when the exam is more consistent with what they are testing? I have no doubt exam 6 would be difficult and awful to study for but at least it seems like a more consistent/fair exam than MAS-I has been at least.

The general perspective on this I got from my coworkers was this was a stupid idea that never works and only people who do this are people who never finish the exams. I worry if theyíre right and this is just wishful thinking or if there is some merit to this idea. Iíd be interested in hearing both success and failure stories of this, since I need to make a decision soon. I didnít post this in the MAS-I forum since I wanted to hear from a variety of folks, including people who finished exams years ago, but Iím fine with moving it there if thatís more appropriate. Just was wondering how often this was done and if thereís been much success.
