Glad the OP pointed out that his post had nothing to do with Data Science as I didn't have to.

Secondly, data analysts and data scientists in their pure forms are not the same thing, although many data analysts and actuarial analysts have taken on pretend titles of data scientist, so it does get rather confusing.

Anyways, to answer the initial question, definitely go for the actuarial internship and don't feel bad about it. If you had to completely burn the bridge at the other place (which I don't think you will) I'd do it for the actuarial experience, in Canada nonetheless.

Networking. I had some informational interviews over the phone with other actuaries. One of them must have put a good word in for me. Apparently, some companies are willing to offer internships to graduates.
