i was in pretty much the worst possible frame of mind for taking that exam. i got that "eh, we'll get back to you" at the end and damn near died.

Same here. Exam sucked the life out of me and waiting two months for a result is going to cause me some serious anxiety.

Has anyone seen or heard any indication of when SRM might have instant results? Other than after the "first several administrations" like the syllabus shows...

Instant results are likely not available at least for the next few sittings. According to a recent presentation by the SOA, it is "way too early" (see Slide 11) to have instant results for SRM.

Thank you! Interesting that this presentation shows 2020 as the target for STAM instant results but then it looks like two days after these slides, they announced that STAM would have instant results beginning this October.

Why does it take so long to get instant pass/fail?

Is it basically just first sittings tend to have a lot of defective pilot questions?
