For FAP books, do we need all the fap books or not?

I am just starting, but I've talked to two people that told me the books aren't needed. One of them said he used the ERM one a little bit, but the other person said she didn't use them at all.

The only book I used was the ERM book and I used it more than a little. It was very helpful for Module 4, IA, and a little for FA.
