2 deductibles, 1 event?

Is that the norm?

A storm rolls through town and hail dings up both cars. each has a $500 comprehensive deductible.

Is the policyholder going to absorb 500 or 1000?

If the cars have different deductibles (500 and 250), is it the sum, the max, or the min?
